The Stone Soup Project
Workforce Development
Starting in 2015, the Stone Soup Job Skills Training Program is an active part of GWCARC and is run in partnership with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office in Culpeper County. The program is designed to provide training on food safety and customer service
and teaches basic culinary skills, with a focus on training low-income and mentally and intellectually challenged individuals in the five-county region of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties for employment in the food service industry. Participants also help prep heavy harvest and other food donations into healthy, convenient meals for local area food pantries.
Graduates are available for employment by the food businesses and users of
CFEC’s shared-use commercial kitchen and be trained
to assist with the co-packing operation at the facility.
